Overwelmed backpacker in Phnom Pehn

I am sitting in the heat in the capital city in Cambodia, phnom pehn. At the moment I kind of find it a little difficult to write, because I am "up there". Even though I am tired, I am experiencing so many amazing things down here. It is taking my breath away, and I cant even sleep well. Let me tell about today and the last few days.

We came from Siam Reap to Phnom Pehn yesterday. Tiffany had read about a nice backpacker hotel so I let her "do her thing" (she always picks the BEST places). The tuk-tuk (moped with a "slade" on it) drowe us through the busy, dusty city and the hotel was just perfect. We pay 5 dollar for the night, double room. It has a beautiful terrasse next to the lake, it has a bar and a restaurant there, free DVDs, TV, amazing chairs (i love the chairs). And its just made of wood the whole area, and there are lights everywhere. The hotel is in the "backpacker-street" in phnom pehn, so we meet a lot of extremly nice, outgoing, adventures backpackers, just as our selfs! We met the same german boys here as we met at the bus to siam reap and we are hanging with them here. Yesterday we had a good time in one of the streets nightclubs/diner places and we made an interview with different people with my camera, and a lot of funny stuff were said. I dont know if i dare to watch it ;p "hi how are you? can i interview you my man?" (random on the street). But people are soooo nice here (i am talking about backpackers.. the other ones just want your money.. and thats is tiering after a while.. but hello. they need to eat).

Did you people know that in the late 1970th the poi pot (dictatur) killed around 3 and a half million people in cambodia? well i didnt.. and it was just too much for me when i today went to the killing field to see all the mass graves and the places where a lot of people where tortured and killed. i had to cry when i saw a tree at where they tortured children.. 1970th! and i have never heard of it.. its hitler and holocaust ++ nr 2.

i have got to know this sweet cambodian girl called Nii who is walking around here trying to sell books. (now i have enough books..). she is really sweet, and i really got a heart for her. she is 22, has three boys (who i got to see today) and are trying to make a living.. i brought her and her sistrer to a restaurant today. they said they didnt eat the whole day.. so earlier today i asked her to show me her home. (something witch actually was a little scary.. cuz it was no touristy place.. i wont do that again..) a lot of people in small roomes after an other in a long narrow wooden building.. people where looking at me thinking "wow, she is white, and here? but still.. to see that place. i had beautiful children overwelming me with hugs and attention. i got to hold nii's 6 month old son. she told me about her life. her surviving here. her father was killed by poi pot, the dictature. i think it was an amazing experience.. but i was scared.. i saw someone fighting and nii had to take my hand and drag me because i couldnt moove. okay mom, wont do it again i promise.

so now we are going to hang out with the german boyzzz. have a good time. tomorrow tiff and i are going to an orfhans home. give some clothes away. i dont need them.. i have tooo many. seriously. then to vietnam, later laos.

okay, enjoy people. i love you guys. **
